Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a relatively new solution to the problem of excess hair. This modality originally gained popularity in the 1990s and several different types of lasers have been developed to treat excess hair. In essence the laser heats the hair follicle and destroys it at the root. The laser is best at targeting darker hair in lighter skinned patients. Since individual hairs are in different stages of growth in each treated area, multiple treatments are usually necessary to effectively eliminate all hair and produce a desired result.

At Allure we use an Deka Yag laser in an effort to optimize hair removal. The laser is designed to treat the melanin rich hair follicles and not effect the surrounding tissues. Cooling devices are used to reduce the discomfort in the treated area.
