What does MicroLaserPeel treat?

MicroLaserPeel treatments aim to improve wrinkles, acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, and sun damage by removing the top layers of skin to reveal the newer layers underneath. This procedure is extremely popular because of the control it gives the technician and the amazing results it provides. Microlaser peels target the first layer of skin and can also be adjusted to address specific concerns and needs of your skin. This may involve treating deeper and/or combining it with other energy-based technologies to maximize results.
Microlaser peels can be used to address skin concerns of the face, neck, chest, and hands.

How it works

MicroLaserPeels focuses on gently vaporizing the first layer of skin, allowing for new, smoother skin to complete the regenerative process. Before the procedure, your Allure laser technician will gently cleanse the area to be treated and provide you with protective eyewear to keep your eyes safe. During the procedure, your technician slowly uses the Sciton MicroLaserPeel machine, guiding the hand-piece over the skin as the laser beam scans and treats the desired area. The depth can be adjusted to fit treatment goals and needs of your skin. A superficial treatment is equal to the depth of one sheet of paper. The deepest is equivalent to five sheets of paper.
Keep in mind that it may take more than one treatment to achieve your desired results. During your consultation your provider will collaborate with you to create a personalized plan to target specific concerns and needs of your skin, that together can achieve your desired goals.

How long does it take?

Typically, the Microlaser Peel treatment will take anywhere between 15 and 30 minutes, depending upon the size of the area(s) that is being treated.

Does it hurt?

The extent of discomfort during MicroLaserPeel really comes down to the individual’s pain tolerance and the depth of tissue being treated. For peels that only target the top layer skin, some clients report needing no anesthetic at all. In most cases, a numbing cream is applied to the skin to help minimize any discomfort.

During the procedure you can expect to feel some heat as the laser passes over the skin. However, in almost all cases this heat is tolerable either with or without anesthetic.

Aftercare

After treatment, your skin will look and feel like you’ve spent several hours under the hot sun. A cold, wet compress applied to the area for 2 minutes every 20 minutes for 2 hours can reduce this sensation. Over the days following treatment, the skin will begin to flake and roll off while gently cleansing your skin. Unlike a chemical peel, there will be no visible peeling as the laser is more efficient and precise at removing the superficial skin layer. To nurture your new layer of skin cells, it’s best to use a gentle cleanser, a mild moisturizer and a physical sunscreen with sun protection of Spf 30 or higher. Avoid picking at the skin or any dark spots that are forced to the surface. We will consult with you on the proper home skin care regime as your healing progresses.

One reason why MicrolaserPeels are so popular is because of the minimal downtime associated with healing. On average it takes between 2 and 4 days to heal, earning the treatment the nickname “the weekend peel”. If you can have the treatment on a Thursday or Friday, you may be ready (or almost ready) for work on Monday!

Are MicroLaserPeels safe for darker skin tones?

It’s important to be aware that laser treatments can carry the risk of causing hyper or hypo pigmentation in dark skin tones. That being said, many people of color have achieved amazing results using this treatment! If you have concerns about the treatment in relation to your skin tone, please do not hesitate to ask your provider during consultation.
